About What's Blocked
What's Blocked answers a plain question: does this app or site work in that country, and is it legal to use a VPN there? Every status has a source and a date, because blocks come and go.
Who it's for
People travelling or moving abroad, people calling family in another country, and journalists, researchers and teachers who need a dated, sourced answer rather than a guess.
Who makes it
What's Blocked is made by Secria, which makes Secria Mail and Secria VPN. Because Secria sells a VPN, we have a commercial interest in questions about VPNs. That is why this site does not recommend VPNs or explain how to get around a country's rules, and why each VPN status comes from a law, a regulator, independent research or a named news outlet, never from a VPN company's own country guide.
How we check
We start with the government order, the law or the regulator's statement, then the company's own statement. Where those are missing, we use named independent research: Freedom House's Freedom on the Net, Access Now's #KeepItOn shutdown data, OONI's network measurements and Cloudflare Radar's outage reports. News reports are used to date a change, or when they are the only record, and always from a named outlet.
Where OONI tests a service, we compare each status with its measurements from the 30 days before we publish. If a news report and the measurements disagree, we leave the claim out until it is clear. Each status says when the block began, where the source gives a date, and each page says when we last checked it. Nothing here is legal advice.
